Last night I burned through the remaining 200 pages of the book To Selena, With Love written by Chris Perez. It might be because I grew up listening to her music, because I vaguely remember seeing her all over Telemundo when I was at my grandmothers house, or because I remember seeing the movie based on her life in theaters (I was very young), but while finishing this book last night, I struggled to keep it together and eventually I cried over the loss of this amazing woman.
Downloaded that calorie counter app today…let’s try this healthy fitness thing again, yeah? I used to have it on my iPhone and I found it on my Nook this morning.
Gonna seriously try and get myself to the gym more often, and try to pop in those P90X DVD’s my Dad has at home. Now that I’m not dancing four nights a week anymore it’s gonna take some effort to keep myself in control of my weight, and I’m not going back to 199lbs!
I’ll be updating this part of my blog regularly - maybe weekly - that way it keeps me motivated to post and to log/ pay attention to what I eat and when I exercise; and if I eat nothing but disgusting junk food all week then it’s gonna be pretty embarrassing to blog that, so there’s some motivation to eat healthy! haha
Update - Part Two: Rehearsals, Callbacks and Casting (With Some Torture Just for Fun!)
Last week, with Hairspray now closed and PCPA callbacks behind me with nothing to do but wait for an email, I began rehearsals for Showboat with Fresno Grand Opera after being moved from the Cotton Blossom chorus to the African American chorus, only reassuring the fact that I am the poster child for Racial Ambiguity on stage in Fresno. But I can’t complain because what I have joined is sure to be a fantastic show, and I’ve only heard a fraction of the cast sing!
I don’t know the show, but I’m guessing there is a boat involved? Haha I kid. Really though, outside of my lines I haven’t been given a script so if someone could tell me what this show is about it would be most appreciated.
Anyway, the music is pretty, a little boring right now that we are only using a piano and haven’t heard the leads sing their stuff yet, but I know this is going to be a great production that I cannot wait to put on.
Update - Part One: Hairspray Closing and PCPA Callbacks
It’s been a while since my last real post, a few things have happened in the last couple of weeks!
The last weekend of Hairspray was a pretty emotional one for the cast. We had a great run and were ready to close but that didn’t make it any easier for us. The weekend sold pretty well to some AWESOME audiences who were ready to ROCK (sorry, still fuming from Rock of Ages on Tuesday)!
