So, today in Biology, we were discussing the top 10 deadliest viruses. #2 was HIV.
In this discussion someone mentioned that Freddie Mercury died of AIDS shortly after coming out to the public. This was met with laughter. LAUGHTER.
It’s as if my biology class found some sort of sick irony in a person DYING OF A DISEASE. Is that what we do when someone’s life is taken away from them by a horrible, horrible virus? Laugh at them as if they deserved it?
Not that it comes as a complete surprise, but you should know there are still people in this world who believe that a gay person dying of AIDS is funny/ironic.
